Cyber Security Analyst

The role of Cyber Security Analyst is to support and protect the national technical infrastructure on which corporate systems are maintained and accessed, extending to overseas regional offices.

Responsibilities
To support and protect the technical infrastructure on which corporate systems are maintained and accessed
- Maintain and protect IT Infrastructure estate, including cloud, networks, hardware and software
- Monitor, execute and investigate patching requirements to keep our vulnerabilities to a low risk level
- Keep up to date with the latest cyber security and technology developments
- Provide end user support and or indirect expert advice to internal helpdesk colleagues
- Research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them
- Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
- Test and evaluate potential cyber security products
- Design and implement new security systems or upgrade existing ones
- Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities
- Identify potential weaknesses and implement measures, such as firewalls and encryption
- Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
- Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system users
- Monitor and respond to 'phishing' emails and 'pharming' activity
- Monitor and respond to Azure/Office 365 threat alerts activity
- Primary liaison and management of 3rd party service providers (SIEM/SOC)
- Implement agreed changes within appropriate timescales
- Support the Information Security Officer working towards aligned accreditation such as Cyber Essentials Plus
- Travel to other UK office locations as required
- Plan for disaster recovery and contribute to incident recovery plans in the event of any cyber security breaches
- Technical level knowledge of networks
- Provide out of hours coverage during an incident or as required (patching)
- Complete, manage and report on projects allocated
- Ensure effective and timely reporting as required
Requirements
Desirable Experience
- 2-4 years corporate experience of a 200 plus user infrastructure
- A Cyber/Information Security related degree and/or relevant cyber security qualification(s).
- Working experience with cloud-based applications
Desirable Knowledge
- Firewalls, Web Proxy, SIEM, Vulnerability Scanners, Data Security Analysis
- Intel plus Linux/UNIX knowledge/experience
