With more than 40 years of experience in the financial services and insurance sectors, Preben brings strong leadership and significant experience to support RiverStone International’s growth plans as an independent company. His experience includes 11 years as CEO of Close Brothers Group, a FTSE 250 merchant bank. He was also formerly chief investment officer and a member of the group executive committee at Catlin Group, an international non-life insurer, and CEO at Wellington Underwriting, a specialist insurer.

With over 33 years of experience in the global insurance and reinsurance industry, Paul is responsible for the Group’s overall strategy and operations.

Prior to joining RiverStone, Paul held several senior leadership roles at Enstar Group, including Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Claims Officer. His expertise spans business development, strategic planning, claims, operations, and mergers and acquisitions.

Paul began his career in reinsurance claims and debt litigation. Over the course of his career, he has served as an Executive of multiple insurance and reinsurance companies, sat on the boards of 28 companies, and led teams of over 400 employees across 20 offices worldwide.

Outside the office, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Annabelle. He also follows most sports with a keen interest in West Ham United, Essex Cricket Club and England Rugby.

Andy Creed is Group President and Group Chief Financial Officer of RiverStone International, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s global strategy, long-term growth ambitions. Andy partners closely with Paul, RiverStone’s Group CEO, and the wider executive team to drive innovation in the legacy insurance market and deliver tailored solutions to clients worldwide.

Since joining RiverStone in 2013, Andy has held a number of senior leadership roles, including UK Chief Executive Officer and Executive Finance Director. In these positions, he has played a key role in the Group’s evolution into one of the world’s leading legacy insurance solutions providers.

A Chartered Accountant, Andy began his career at PwC before moving into corporate and investment banking at Barclays. Andy likes to spend his holidays hiking in UK national parks with his wife, Laura, and his Scottish Terrier, Clementine.

With almost 30 years of experience in the insurance industry – all of it in the legacy sector – David leads RiverStone International’s acquisitions activities, having joined the business in February 2022. He spent 21 years at Enstar in Bermuda and the UK until 2017, having joined the firm from Deloitte in 1996. David qualified as a chartered accountant in Birmingham in 1993 after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Merton College, Oxford.

Between retiring from Enstar and joining RiverStone, David became a keen cultivator of chilis in his Bermuda garden, producing a variety of sauces and dips for friends.

Nick leads RiverStone International’s US entity, headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts. He joined RiverStone in 2024 following the group’s acquisition of the global P&C carrier Electric Insurance Company from General Electric, where his 20-year tenure culminated in his appointment as CEO in 2022. Prior to joining Electric Insurance in 2004, Nick spent nine years with global mobile communications leader Nokia, in increasingly senior HR, administrative, and M&A-focused leadership roles.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of New Hampshire.

Outside of work, Nick enjoys tennis, golf, and hiking throughout New England.

With more than 18 years of experience, Charlotte is the UK Chief Executive Officer of RiverStone International. She joined the company in 2017 as Internal Audit Manager, progressing to Head of Internal Audit and then Executive Risk and Compliance Director in 2021, before being appointed to her current role. Prior to joining RiverStone, Charlotte spent eight years at PwC working across a breadth of industries, beginning in assurance services and later spending five years in forensic services.

Outside of work, Charlotte is a keen runner and enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter.

Brian is responsible for RiverStone International’s Irish operations and brings over 20 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry. He joined RiverStone in early 2024 following the acquisition of the Irish company from Catalina Re. During his 11 years at Catalina Re, he served as CEO for Ireland and was involved in multiple M&A transactions.

Before that, Brian spent a decade with HSBC Ireland, holding various senior roles within its insurance operations, including business partner, financial controller, CFO, and CEO. He also held a position at Irish Life Insurance. Brian began his career in 1996 with an auditing firm in Dublin, where he qualified as an accountant.

Outside of work, Brian has been actively involved with his local football club, coaching underage teams for over 10 years.

Hermann’s background is Director’s and Officer’s liability underwriting, which complements his law and business academic education. He began his career with Chubb Insurance as a trainee, then moved to the broker side at Marsh McLennan for several years. He also led the professional lines division at Zurich Insurance in Frankfurt for some time. In 2022, he joined RiverStone through the acquisition of ArgoGlobal and currently heads the continental European business.

Hermann enjoys the outdoors, particularly skiing in his home country, Austria, and spending time in the Mediterranean region near Malta.

With 31 years of experience in the insurance industry, Mark oversees the Group claims, reinsurance and underwriting operations of RiverStone International. He joined the company in 1994 and has held various management positions including manager of the financial run-off unit, head of commutations, workout manager, reinsurance director and operations director. Mark has commuted more than US$1 billon in approximately 600 commutations, resolved some of the company’s most complex exposures and maintained the consistency and excellence of the company’s global operations. From 2014 to 2016, Mark spent two years as Vice President of Commutations and Exit Strategies of RiverStone’s former US Operation. Mark received his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Public Administration from the University of South Wales.

Mark is an avid traveller and loves to swim at least four times a week.

Mike is a corporate lawyer with 30 years’ experience operating in the international insurance and reinsurance sector. Mike joined RiverStone as General Counsel and Company Secretary in 2022 from the Aspen Group, where he held the position of General Counsel and company secretary alongside various other leadership roles including Group COO and CEO of the Bermuda and UK platforms. Prior to Aspen Mike worked for the Benfield Group (prior to its acquisition by Aon) as well as law firms Ashurst and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. Mike holds an LLB from the University of Reading and an LLM from the University of Bristol.

Outside of the office Mike now enjoys watching his children play sports and hankers for more personal travel.

James leads RiverStone International’s actuarial function. He joined RiverStone in 2019 as the managing agency chief actuary and has progressed since then to take responsibility for the wider group. James was previously chief actuary of Advent Underwriting in Lloyd’s and has held a number of senior actuarial roles across the insurance market. He started his career in life insurance with Pearl Assurance and spent a number of years with General Electric before moving to the Lloyd’s market. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK). James graduated from the University of Warwick (UK) with a Bachelor of Science in
mathematics.

While travelling in a sabbatical year, James landed a part in the Michael Caine film ‘The Quiet American’.

With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, Neil joined Riverstone International as Group CIO in November 2021 and is responsible for all aspects of Riverstone’s investment activities. Prior to Riverstone, Neil spent 11 years at Catalina, where he was European CIO overseeing US$4bn of AUM and running the in-house real estate lending business and the external real estate activities through joint-venture partner Oxenwood Real Estate. He also managed the US$500MM in-house CLO portfolio. Neil spent the first 11 years of his career in investment banking and capital markets based in both London and New York, latterly as head of the $15bn ABS principal finance platform within RBC Capital Markets. In his spare time, Neil enjoys playing piano and tennis and walking his 2 chow-chows.

With more than 25 years of experience, Megan is responsible for leading our People and Culture strategy in support of RiverStone’s continued growth and international expansion.  Prior to joining RiverStone, Megan was an HR Leader within global multinationals including abrdn, Travelport International and Barclays Bank and a management consultant with Accenture and Capgemini / Ernst and Young. Megan holds a Bachelor of Business (Human Resources) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Queensland.

Megan is a keen traveler and has lived or worked in 8 countries around the world and holidayed to over 50.

With 25 years of experience, Matt leads the Group Technology function at RiverStone International, responsible for driving strategic alignment and growth across all regions. Before joining RiverStone, Matt spent 15 years in senior leadership roles at WR Berkley and Hiscox Insurance, and over a decade managing strategic change across various companies and industries. Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia.

Outside of work, Matt has a keen interest in classic cars, antiques, rugby, concerts of all kinds, and spending time with his four children.
