WHO WE ARE

The RiverStone Europe group is the European operation of the RiverStone Group, a US-based group of insurance, reinsurance and service companies specialising in the management of legacy and run-off insurance businesses and portfolios and an industry leader in claim resolution, reinsurance recovery and dispute resolution.

The RiverStone Group is part of the insurance and reinsurance operations of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (“Fairfax”) http://www.fairfax.ca, a Canadian financial services group based in Toronto.

Globally, the RiverStone Group is responsible for $4 billion in gross liabilities (as at December 2016), including a broad range of commercial insurance and reinsurance exposures, with particular emphasis on the resolution of direct and assumed claims arising from APH (asbestos, environmental, mass tort), construction defect, major bodily injury and workers compensation liabilities, among others.

WHAT WE DO

The RiverStone Europe group comprises RiverStone Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries, including RiverStone Insurance (UK) Limited, RiverStone Insurance Limited, RiverStone Management Limited and RiverStone Managing Agency Limited. The group manages approximately $900 million in gross liabilities through its offices in Brighton, London and Darlington and has assets of $1.6 billion and surplus of over $700 million (amounts at December 2016).

The RiverStone Europe group manages a variety of Lloyd’s, London market and European portfolios and is experienced in the management of both reinsurance and direct business, including significant long-tail exposures.

The portfolios that the RiverStone Europe Group manages include both UK retail insurance and London Market insurance and reinsurance books of business, including:

  • UK liability including professional indemnity
  • UK and continental European motor reinsurance
  • Casualty insurance and reinsurance including historical liabilities relating to asbestos and pollution

  • Marine insurance and reinsurance including hull, cargo, P&I and specie
  • Aviation insurance and reinsurance

  • US excess and surplus lines insurance
